The Little Rock Touchdown Club is bringing a star-studded lineup of football legends to Arkansas this September, with four speakers whose careers span college football’s biggest stages, the NFL and beyond. From Tyson Foods Chairman John Tyson, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and former President Bill Clinton to Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Assistant Managing Sports Editor Wally Hall to Arkansas State Red Wolves head football coach Butch Jones, each week offers fans a chance to hear firsthand from some of the game’s most accomplished figures. Arkansas TV’s Arkansas Live will bring those conversations directly to viewers across the state through livestreams throughout the month.
Monday, Oct. 5 – John Tyson
John H. Tyson brings to Tyson Foods’ board a critical understanding of the company, its operations and the food processing industry. He has devoted his entire working career to Tyson Foods. The grandson of the company’s founder, John has been part of the company since he was a teenager, has worked in almost every department and eventually became the company’s chief executive officer. He currently serves as Chairman of the board. He has a substantial financial interest in Tyson Foods through his interest in the Tyson Limited Partnership, which retains control of the company. John has been crucial in building the company into a global leader with a conscience, focused on feeding the world great food, made with the utmost respect. Under his leadership, Tyson Foods has expanded its product portfolio beyond chicken through major acquisitions.
Monday, Oct. 12 – Jerry Jones and Bill Clinton *Will be held at Simmons Bank Arena
In one of the most dramatic eras of ownership in professional sports, Jerry Jones' stewardship of the Dallas Cowboys has brought unprecedented results and success to one of the world's most popular sports entities. His more than three-decade-long journey reached a rare pinnacle with his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a member of the 2017 class of enshrinees, making him just the 15th owner in history to earn a bust in Canton. Jones was an offensive lineman for College Football Hall of Fame coach Frank Broyles on the University of Arkansas’s 1964 national championship football team.
Bill Clinton was born on Aug. 19, 1946, in Hope, Arkansas. He graduated from Georgetown University in 1968 and was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford. He received a law degree from Yale in 1973. After graduation, he returned to Arkansas and taught law at the University of Arkansas before entering politics, where he was elected Arkansas Attorney General in 1976. Bill Clinton was elected governor of Arkansas in 1978, but lost a bid for reelection in 1980. He regained the governorship two years later and served until 1993. After a tough primary campaign, Bill Clinton won his party’s nomination and went on to defeat Republican President George H. W. Bush and independent candidate Ross Perot in the 1992 presidential race. When President Clinton won reelection in 1996, he became the first Democrat since Franklin D. Roosevelt to win a second term.
Monday, Oct. 19 – Wally Hall
Wally Hall is assistant managing sports editor for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. A graduate of the University of Arkansas-Little Rock after an honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force, he is a member and past president of the Football Writers Association of America, a member of the U.S. Basketball Writers Association, past president and current executive committee and board member of the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame, and voter for the Heisman Trophy. He has been awarded Arkansas Sportswriter of the Year 10 times and has been inducted into the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame and Arkansas Sportswriters and Sportscasters Hall of Fame.
Monday, Oct. 26 – Butch Jones
Over his 16 seasons as a head coach, Arkansas State Red Wolves head football coach Butch Jones’s teams have combined to win four conference championships, played in 11 bowl games and finished ranked in the AP Top 25 six times. He earned his 100th career victory in 2024 to make him one of just 16 active FBS head coaches. Under his leadership, A-State has made three consecutive bowl games and is among 18 Group of Six programs with an active streak of three or more bowl appearances. He led Tennessee to three consecutive bowl victories and three consecutive winning seasons for the first time in 20 years. At Cincinnati, he guided the Bearcats to two conference championships and back-to-back bowl-game victories. He won two Mid-American Conference championships and led Central Michigan to three consecutive bowl-game appearances for the first time in school history. Butch Jones has coached 116 all-conference honorees, over 89 NFL players and 33 NFL Draft picks, including All-Pro selections Alvin Kamara, Jalen Reeves-Maybin, Jason and Travis Kelce, Nick Bellore and Antonio Brown.
