Each participating family will receive an Arkansas TV Reading Resource bag that includes a free book, educational materials, and helpful literacy resources to support learning at home.

Revolutionary Transcribe-a-Thon

Join Arkansas TV, the Arkansas Center for the Book, and community partners for a hands-on Revolutionary Transcribe-a-Thon at the Mahony Family Library on the campus of South Arkansas College.

Participants will begin with a short preview from “The American Revolution,” the new documentary by Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein, and David Schmidt, premiering in 2026 to mark America’s 250th anniversary.

Then, with guidance from the Library of Congress By the People program, attendees will help transcribe Revolutionary-era handwritten documents, making history more searchable and accessible for future generations. No experience is necessary.

Bring your own laptop or tablet if possible. A limited number of devices may be available onsite. Lunch will be provided.
