Join Harding University, Arkansas TV, and the Arkansas Center for the Book, a program of the Arkansas State Library for a two-day humanities program exploring the Revolutionary era.  

On Friday, March 13 (9 a.m.–5 p.m.), attend the Thomas Paine Symposium examining Common Sense and other key writings, plus a special display of rare early American first printings from The Remnant Trust.

Join Harding University, Arkansas TV, and the Arkansas Center for the Book, a program of the Arkansas State Library for a two-day humanities program exploring the Revolutionary era. 

On Saturday, join us for a free, hands-on Transcribe-a-Thon featuring a preview from “The American Revolution,” a film by Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein and David Schmidt followed by guided transcription of 18th-century documents through the Library of Congress's By the People project. No experience required. Lunch provided.

Springdale Transcribe-a-Thon

Arkansas TV, the Arkansas Center for the Book, a program of the Arkansas State Library, and Springdale Public Library invite you to a free, interactive Transcribe-a-Thon connected to “The American Revolution” a film by Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein and David Schmidt and the Library of Congress's By the People project.

The event begins with a short film preview of “The American Revolution,” followed by guided training and live transcription of Revolutionary-era letters, diaries, and printed documents.  

No experience necessary — just curiosity and a willingness to help make history searchable for future generations. Lunch provided.

Free and open to the public.

Arkansas TV and the Arkansas Center for the Book invite the public to a free, interactive Revolutionary Transcribe-a-Thon at Hempstead County Library.

The program opens with a short preview from The American Revolution, followed by guided training and live transcription of Revolutionary-era documents through the Library of Congress By the People project. No experience is necessary — just curiosity and a willingness to help make history accessible.

The June 9 date provides a wonderful opportunity for the community to connect with America 250 ahead of the July 4 anniversary.

Please note: Participants will need to bring their own laptop or tablet, as devices will not be available onsite. 

Free and open to the public.
