Annual program recognizes top assistant football coaches
CONWAY, Ark. (Arkansas TV) — As part of its Arkansas Live initiative, Arkansas TV will livestream the 30th Annual College Broyles Award on Thursday, Feb. 12, at 6:30 p.m. and the annual High School Broyles Award on Friday, Feb. 13, at 7 p.m. from Hot Springs’ Oaklawn Event Center at arkansastv.gov/arkansaslive, youtube.com/@broylesaward1996 and x.com/@BroylesAward.
Created in 1996, the Broyles Award has recognized the top assistant coaches based on results, character and integrity across the Football Bowl Subdivision, honoring famed University of Arkansas Coach Frank Broyles. Broyles believed assistant coaches were the unsung heroes – building leaders, shaping teams and defining the game.
This year, college assistants University of Georgia Offensive Coordinator Mike Bobo, University of Indiana Defensive Coordinator Bryant Haines, University of Miami Defensive Coordinator Corey Hetherman, Ohio State University Defensive Coordinator Matt Patricia and Texas Tech University Defensive Coordinator Sheil Wood are finalists for the college award. ESPN Commentator and Sports Broadcasting Hall of Famer Holly Rowe will be the special guest, while Super Bowl Champion and College Football Hall of Famer Mark May will serve as emcee.
Established in 2018, the Broyles Award added to its tradition of honoring the nation’s best collegiate assistant football coaches by creating the High School Broyles Award. This award recognizes the top high school assistant football coach in each participating state, showcasing their excellence on the national stage.
