Read to Succeed kicks off April 2 in Mabelvale; families invited to free reading events

Arkansas TV invites families to story time, offers family literacy resources

CONWAY, Ark. (Arkansas TV) — Arkansas TV will host free, fun reading events starting in April and continuing through August as part of Read to Succeed, an initiative to provide literacy resources and encourage family engagement through educational activities. The first event will be held Thursday, April 2, in Mabelvale and is open to students of Mabelvale Elementary.

Events are scheduled for the following cities and dates in April:

  • Mabelvale – Mabelvale Elementary School, 9401 Mabelvale Cut Off Rd, Thursday, April 2, at 5:30 p.m. (open to Mabelvale Elementary School students only.)
  • Springdale – Springdale Public Library, 405 S Pleasant St, Wednesday, April 8, at 11 a.m.
  • Hampton – Calhoun County Library and Museum, 115 S 2nd St, Tuesday, April 21, 5 p.m.
  • North Little Rock – Laman Library, 2801 Orange St, Thursday, April 30, at 5 p.m.

Each community event is open to the public and will include a free meal and story time, followed by a discussion and activity. For a full list of event locations throughout the state, visit arkansastv.gov/events.

Families who attend will receive an Arkansas TV literacy resource bag – including a book, family engagement activities, a journal and a snack bag to take home. Spanish versions of materials will be provided as needed.
