From Around the State to the Arctic: Arkansas Stories Take Center Stage This May

05 May 2026 in

Thursday nights are local nights at Arkansas TV, and we have a great lineup ahead in May. Hear music from Fayetteville staples The Cate Brothers, then get a bird’s eye view of all four seasons of our state, and then, take a trip to the Arctic Circle as Fayetteville native Adam Riley and Canadian Matty Clarke attempt a feat that has never been done before.

“From the Archives: AETN Presents: Front Row with the Cate Brothers” – Thursday, May 7, at 7 p.m.

Identical twin brothers Ernie and Earl Cates have been staples of the Fayetteville music scene for decades, blowing up to tour the world with Bob Dylan, The Band, Stephen Stills and more. Starting in the 1960s, the brothers released music through different record labels, including Electra-Asylum and Atlantic Records. In 2007, the brothers and their band came to what was then known as the AETN studios to perform before an enthusiastic live studio audience as part of “AETN Presents.”

Hear original songs, as well as cover songs of artists Little Walter and Chuck Berry, in “AETN Presents: On The Front Row With the Cate Brothers.”

Among the songs performed for this special “AETN Presents” are: “Start All Over Again,” “Neighborhood,” “Union Man,” “Am I Losing You,” “Crazy Mixed Up World,” “Where Can We Go” and “Give it To a Good Man.”

“Exploring Arkansas from Above” – Thursday, May 14, at 7 p.m.

Utilizing a state-of-the-art cinematic drone, the special highlights unique rock formations, iconic landmarks, stunning waterfalls (frozen and unfrozen), magnificent waterways and popular scenic byways through all four seasons in Arkansas.

“Passage” – Thursday, May 28, at 7 p.m.

This exciting and moving documentary follows Arkansan Adam Riley of Fayetteville and Canadian Matty Clarke as they embark on a journey through uncharted waters, setting out to conquer the final grail of adventure: rowing over the top of Canada in handmade rowboats, a feat that would make them the first ever to cross the Northwest Passage, self-propelled, in a single season.
